Hi, I’m cara elliott, ms, lmft, emdr
My clients are unique, and I curate specialized treatment strategies to address their unique needs. I can help with anxiety, depression, trauma from sexual abuse or violence, and all types of addiction from substance use to social media. In mental health there’s no such thing as a cure, however, I’m committed to working with you to find ways to manage your mental health and start feeling better.
Through all of my experience, I have noticed trauma comes in so many forms, which is why I became trained in EMDR. In my practice, I have observed my clients embrace their own resilience and process traumas at a much quicker rate when combined with traditional psychotherapy.
I understand mental health treatment can carry a negative stigma, and often my clients’ biggest hesitation with initiating treatment is the potential shame they could encounter if their employers, friends or family discover they’re receiving treatment. While mental health treatment is nothing to be ashamed of, I prioritize privacy and discretion with all my clients.
My Approach
I believe each person who arrives in my office with a certain set of beliefs about themselves and the world. I also believe that humans are capable of change even when they don't believe they are capable. I am here to provide perspective, not to change or mold you into what I would think would be best for you. I approach all humans with respect, kindness, warmth, and authenticity.
